Modified Rules
QUICK CHANGE ALLOWED AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS AT TRACK Attention: Do not worry about the cubic inches. Beware of the Traction Control. Frame: Factory production full 1950 or newer parallel American passenger car frames only. No sports car frames. Frame must be full and complete without being widened or narrowed. Frame Modification exceptions are: The original centerline of each spring tower can accommodate a weight jack. Rear frame may be cut a maximum 36 inches forward from center of rear end housing. Front frame horns may be removed in front of steering box. Front cross member may be notched and boxed for radiator and/or steering clearance. Maximum seven-inch wide opening in side of spring tower for spring removal. Maximum two-inch wide by four-inch tall frame stiffener may be welded directly to outside of left side frame rail. A minimum wheelbase of 108 inches, maximum 112 inches on both sides. Maximum overall width (front or rear) shall not exceed 78 inches from outside of tire to outside of tire. No part of frame can be lower than four inches from ground except front cross member. Weight: Minimum 2400 lbs. with the driver after the race. All added weight must be mounted securely and have car number on it. Tires and Wheels: Tires must be hoosier g-60 or American racer kk704. No modifications to tires, no sipping, no softening, and no grooving. (1) Bead lock wheel allowed on RR only and must measure between 8 inches and 8 3/4 inches. Wheels must be steel 15 x 8 inches. Engine: No aluminum blocks allowed. Roller cam and lifters are allowed. Aluminum heads allowed but must add an additional 50 lbs. in front of the motor plate. Engine offset must be kept within 2 inches of centerline of front cross member with engine level. Minimum 11 inch engine height from ground to center of crankshaft. Any American made engine may be used as long as the rear of the engine bell housing flange is mounted at least 72” (seventy-two inches) forward from the center of the rear axle. Castings and fittings may not be altered. No machine work on the outside of the engine or on the front or rear of the crankshaft is permitted. Cooling systems may be altered. Rear Pumps Allowed. NO cubic inch rule. Exhaust: Any round tube header with collector. Intake/Carburetion/Fuel: Must be naturally aspirated. No fuel injection systems or electric fuel pumps are permitted. One 2 (two) or 4 (four) barrel carburetor is allowed. Racing gasoline or alcohol is permitted. No nitrous oxide, nitrous methane, propylene oxide or any type of additives are permitted. Fuel may be checked at any time. All fuel cells must be equipped with rollover check valve. All cars must have fuel cells. Maximum fuel cell size is (32) gallons and must be completely enclosed in 18-guage steel container. Drive train: All drive shafts must be painted white or silver and must be made of steel. Drive shaft loops are mandatory and must be made of 1/2” x 2” 18-guage steel. No direct drives allowed. Transmission must be bolted to engine. All cars must have forward and reverse gears and be able to shift to forward or reverse with engine running. BERT-type transmissions are allowed. Clutch type transmissions must be equipped with explosion-proof steel bell housing. No aluminum parts in the rear end. No quick-change rear ends. No traction control devices. Front Suspension/Steering: All components must be steel unaltered OEM parts in OEM location with the exception of the upper and lower frame arms. Upper a frame mounts can be relocated. Upper a frames can use both steel or aluminum cross-shafts. No offset or bearing type bushings allowed in lower a frames. Lower a frames must be left / right of the same design and bolt in the OEM location. Must use OEM type ball joints, screw in type is allowed. OEM unaltered sway bars only. Stock passenger car spindles only. No fabricated spindles are permitted. No rack and pinions are allowed. No center steering allowed. Quick steer box allowed. All steering components must be OEM steel except the outer tie rod end and adjustment sleeve, which may be replaced by a minimum .625 inch steel rod end and steel tube. Rear Suspension: All trailing arms/link bars must be steel tubing. Rear of the frame may be altered to allow for coil or leaf springs. Steel coil-over eliminators, or steel/aluminum coil-over kits allowed-must conform to shock and spring rules. Traction bars must be a pull or push but not both. No rear sway bars. Rubber bumpers allowed only on panhard bar and mechanical traction bar. Shocks: Steel unaltered racing shocks one per wheel. One additional shock allowed on rear suspension. No threaded coil over type shock allowed. No air or remote reservoir shock allowed. No Schrader valves allowed. Springs: Only one steel, non-progressive coil spring, and/or steel leaf spring per wheel. Two springs allowed on pull bar or lift bar, may be progressive. Coil springs must be at least 4.5 inches OD. No torsion bars or air bags. Battery/Electronics: No traction control devises. Anyone caught with such devise will be suspended for (1) full race season. No transmitting or listening devices, timing retard controls or digital gauges. No electronic monitoring computer devices capable of storing or transmitting information except analog tachometer. No adjustable ignition control boxes. Only one 12-volt ignition box allowed; must be out of driver’s reach. Only change allowed to ignition box is one high-end rev-limiter setting. This setting can be changed through one chip only, or an internal setting inside box. No additional ignition accessories allowed. Must run 12-volt battery. Battery must be securely mounted between frame rails and shielded from driver. Disconnect switch must be within reach of safety crew and driver; clearly labeled On and Off. Brakes: Must be steel OEM approved, drum or disc. Must maintain minimum OEM dimensions for hub/rotors and calipers, no lightening. Rear rotors may be aftermarket, minimum 0.810 inch thickness. No scalloped rotors, vented rotors only. No brake shut off or pressure sensitive devices. One proportioning device allowed, front to rear only. Body: ALL OTHER BODY RULES FOLLOW UMP Must be same width, rear to front, and parallel to OEM frame. Engine compartment may be enclosed. Must have front windshield and rear window support posts. Driver and passenger side windows must have at least 12 inch opening, measured at center of window, between lowest point at top of window, whether roof or roll cage, and highest point at bottom of window, whether interior or body. May use fiberglass or aluminum full size roof. May use Lexan in sail panels. Maximum 4 inch plastic skirting allowed on bottom of doors and quarters. Outside of tires must be widest part of car. May use spoiler on rear, maximum 6 inches, aluminum or Lexan. 105 speedway has the final decision on questionable body designs. Driver Area: Must have minimum 3 window bars in front of driver. Lexan or aluminum cowl panel in front of driver can be no wider than cockpit and no farther back than steering wheel. Minimum .125 inch aluminum, or .060 inch steel, complete floor pan required. Aluminum high back seat only and must be bolted in next to left side frame rail and ahead of rear tires. Bottom of seat can be no lower than bottom of frame rail. Driver must be sealed off from track, driveline, engine, fuel cell, canisters and pumps. All coolers must not protrude above interior. No devices that would enable driver adjustment to alter wheelbase or for weight jacking while car is in competition. No mirrors or reflective sun visors. Nerf Bars: Must be steel only, minimum 1.25 inch OD tubing; may not extend past tires. Appearance: Cars must be kept neat and looking professional. Car number on the roof and sides needs to be readable for scoring purposes. Letter / Number combo is allowed All Rules Subject to change at any time. |
